[Tax binding protein 151] The approved gene symbol is TAX1BP1 [Tax1 binding protein 1].
The cDNA encoding this protein (747 amino acids) has been cloned by De Valck et al (1999). The protein has been identified by virtue of its ability to bind to the early response protein A20, which is an inhibitor of cell death, and to the HTLV-I Tax protein, which is essential for virus replication and transformation, and also stimulates the expression of a variety of cellular genes.
