abbr. TRAP (a term with multiple meanings). This human protein of 29.3 kDa (261 amino acids; glycosylated: gp39) is a member of the TNF protein family (new designation: CD154). It was isolated as a cDNA clone from a collection of T-cell activation genes (see also: cell activation). The protein shows 82.8 % and 77.4 % identity at the cDNA and protein level, respectively, with a similar protein isolated from murine EL4 thymoma cells. Both proteins are the ligands for the CD40 cell surface antigen expressed on resting B-cells. The protein has been described also as IMD3
