abbr. TR1 (a term with multiple meanings). The gene encoding this protein (401 amino acids with a 21 residue signal sequence) which is secreted as a 62 kDa glycoprotein, is identical with Osteoprotegerin (see: OPG) (Tan et al, 1997). Owing to its homology to other members of the TNF receptor superfamily the receptor is being referred to also as TNFRSF11B [TNF receptor superfamily member 11B]. Other names are OCIF [osteoclastogenesis inhibitory factor], FDCR-1 [FDC-derived receptor-1].
