[Toll-like receptor-25] This toll-like receptor has been identified in channel catfish, Ictalurus punctatusby Quiniou et al (2013). TLR25 is present also in cyprinids, cichlids, plecoglossids, and adrianichthyids, suggesting its presence early in fish evolution. This pattern recognition receptor appears to be fish specific. For phylogenetic comparisons see also: Zhang et al (2013). The receptor may be involved in immune responses against pathogens in a tissue-specific manner in catfish, perhaps through rapid migration of phagocytes to infection sites (Zhang et al, 2013).
