TIR-like protein A

abbr. tlpA. (not to be confused with some other genes having the same designation) This gene from the Salmonella enterica serovar Enteritidis genome has been identified by Newman et al (2006). The encoded protein is predicted to encode a protein resembling mammalian TIR domains. Overexpression of tlpA in mammalian cells suppresses the ability of mammalian proteins such as TLR4, IL1 receptor, and MyD88, all of which contain a TIR domain, to induce the transactivation and DNA-binding activities of transcription factor NF-kappa-B. tlpA mimics another Salmonella virulence factor, sipB ... ... ... ... ...
