[tumor necrosis factor-alpha inhibitory protein B1] The approved gene symbol for this protein is SH3BGRL3 [SH3 domain binding glutamic acid-rich protein like 3]. It is being referred to also as SH3BP1 [SH3 domain-binding protein 1]. The protein shows a significant similarity to glutaredoxin 3 of Escherichia coli, but it completely lacks the conserved consensus sequence essential for glutaredoxin enzymatic activity (Mazzocco et al, 2001).
This protein of 27 kDa was purified from cytosolic extracts of human fibroblasts treated with TNF-alpha
