TIA-1

[T-cell-restricted intracellular antigen-1; T-cell internal antigen-1] TIA-1 has been identified originally as a cytoplasmic granule-associated protein the expression of which is restricted to cytolytic lymphocytes and NK-cells (Anderson et al, 1990). The cDNAs for two isoforms of this protein have been cloned by Tian et al (1991). The gene structure has been described by Kawakami et al (1994). The major granule-associated species is the 15 kDa protein (p15-TIA-1) that seems to be derived from the carboxyl terminus of a longer form, p40-TIA-1 (cytotoxic granule-associated RNA-binding protein) by proteolytic processing (Kawakami et al, 1994; Tian et al, 1995).
