[TEA domains]
[transcriptional enhancer activator domain] This highly conserved domain is found in a variety of transcription factors (Bürglin, 1991). The TEA domain is a DNA binding domain of 66-68 amino acids (Xiao et al, 1991; Hwang et al, 1993). Andrianopoulos and Timberlake (1991) refer to the same domain as ATTS domain, named after three proteins in which they were discovered (AbaA (Aspergillus nidulans), TEC1p {Saccharomyces cerevisiae), TEF-1 (mammalian sequence). The domain is, therefore also being referred to TEA/ATTS domain and somtimes ATTS/TEA domain.
