TCT.1

[T-cell target 1] This protein of 43 kDa is identified by monoclonal antibody anti-10H3 on human non-major histocompatibility complex-restricted cytotoxic T-cells. The antibody selectively inhibits the cytotoxic activity of these cells. TCT.1 shows a broad distribution in the hematopoietic system and appears to represent a unique T-cell receptor ligand (Mami-Chouaib et al, 1990). Del Porto et al (1991) have reported that peptide sequences derived from TCT.1 are virtually identical to corresponding regions of the cell activation antigen Blast-1.

In the nomenclature of CD antigens this protein has been given the designation CD48.
