TCA-4

[T-cell activation-4; Thymus-derived chemotactic agent-4]

TCA-4 belongs to the Beta-Chemokines family and was cloned from a mouse thymic cDNA library. The factor is known also as SCYA21. The approved gene symbol is CCL21. TCA-4 shows 99 % sequence identiy with 6Ckine. A related factor is TCA-3 [Thymus-derived chemotactic agent-3]. For murine variant genes expressing differentially regulated forms of this factor see: CCL21.

High levels of TCA-4 mRNA are expressed in thymus and lower levels of message are found in spleen, heart, and kidney.
