abbr. TCGF (a term with multiple meanings).
A generic name for a number of soluble factors found in the conditioned medium of mitogen-stimulated leukocytes that support the proliferation of T-cells after cell activation, and T-cell lines. This name was coined in the beginning of cytokine research. It is still employed to characterize the functional activities of new factors (TCGF activity).
The "classical" TCGF was isolated initially from normal peripheral blood lymphocytes and from Jurkat cells (jTCGF). This TCGF is identical with IL2
