abbr. TAF (a term with multiple meanings). This factor was isolated initially by its ability to activate purified resting peripheral lymph node T-cells to produce IL2. T-cell activating factor is biochemically distinct from IL1, IL2, IL3, and other colony stimulating factors, IL4 (BSF-1) and interferons (Garman and Raulet, 1987). This murine protein is identical with IL6 (Garman et al, 1987; Van Snick, 1989).
