Scolopendrasin IX, MCKYFIKIVSKSAKKamide is a peptide from the centipede Scolopendra subspinipes mutilans (Park et al, 2018). Scolopendrasin IX markedly activates mouse neutrophils, by enhancing cytosolic calcium increase, chemotactic cellular migration, and generation of superoxide anion production. The receptor for scolopendrasin IX has been identified as the formyl peptide receptor FPR2.
The administration of scolopendrasin IX strongly blocks the clinical phenotype of rheumatoid arthritis in an autoantibody-injected disease model. Scolopendrasin IX inhibits TNF-alpha, IL6, and IL10 synthesis in mouse neutrophils stimulated with LPS
