abbr. SDGF (a term with multiple meanings). This factor of 17.7 kDa is isolated from serum-free conditioned medium of JS1 cells, a rapidly proliferating cell line derived from a chemically induced rat malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor. Its amino acid sequence reveals that SDGF is a member of the epidermal growth factor protein family (see also: EGF). Rat SDGF displays 76 % homology with human amphiregulin and is considered the rat homolog of human Amphiregulin (Kimura et al, 1990).
