SRA-E5 is a monoclonal antibody raised against human SRA [scavenger receptor A] (Tomokiyo Ri et al, 2002) and thus corresponds to CD antigen CD204. It appears to recognize a common epitope that is well preserved
among most animal species and humans.
In early atherosclerotic lesions, the antibody recognizes scattered macrophages in intima and foamy macrophages in the periphery of atheromatous cores.
