SIRT7

[Sirtuin-7] is a member of a family of proteins with NAD(+)-dependent histone deacetylase and deacylase activity. The protein shares homology with yeast Sir2 [silent information regulator 2] and is being referred to also as SIR2L7 [Sir2-like 7; silent information regulator 2-like 7]. The cDNA has been cloned by Frye (2006). The gene structure has been reported by Voelter-Mahlknech et al (2006). Ford et al (2006) have reported wide expression of SIRT7 and localisation to the nucleolus (see also: Kiran et al, 2013) where it associates with active rRNA genes and histones and functions as an activator of RNA polymerase 1 transcription. Knock-down of SIRT7 expression or inhibition of its catalytic activity blocks ... ... ... ... ... Subscribe to continue reading! ... ...
