[special AT-rich sequence-binding protein 1; SATB homeobox 1] SATB1 is a T-cell-enriched transcription factor and chromatin organizer initially identified as a DNA-binding protein highly expressed in the thymus (Dickinson et al, 1992; de Belle et al, 1998). The factor is expressed widely in T-cells. Huang et al (2011) have reported widespread expression of SATB1 in CNS neurons of mice.
