[salmon antimicrobial peptide H1] SAMP H1 (AEVAPAPAAAAPAKAPKKKAAAKPKKAGPS) is the dominant antimicrobial peptide in skin mucus from Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) (Lüders et al, 2005). The peptide, derived from the proline-rich N-terminus of histone H1, is active against both Gram-negative bacteria and Gram-positive bacteria.
