[roundabout-4] The human robo-4 protein is a member of the subfamily of immunoglobulin superfamily proteins that is highly conserved from fruit flies (see: robo) to mammals. Expression appears to occur in a cell type specific manner in endothelial cells (Okada et al, 2007, 2008)
The Robo-4 protein (107 kDa) has been identified independently as magic roundabout (abbr. MRB) by Huminiecki et al (2002). These authors have shown that Robo-4 is expressed in endothelial cells, especially under hypoxic conditions, but not in fibroblasts, carcinoma, and neuronal cells.
