[roundabout-3; Roundabout-like protein 3] The human robo-3 protein (1,384 amino acid) is a member of the subfamily of immunoglobulin superfamily proteins that is highly conserved from fruit flies (see: robo) to mammals (Kidd et al, 1998).
Robo-3a and Robo-3b are two human and mouse splice isoforms that differ by the insertion of 26 amino acids at the N-terminus. These isoforms differ in their ability to bind to the Slit ligand (Camurri et al, 2005). Camurri et al (2005) have reported that Robo-3 can bind homophilically but also forms complexes with Robo-1 and NCAM.
