Reed-Sternberg microtubule-associated protein

The approved gene symbol for this protein is CLIP1 [CAP-Gly domain-containing linker protein 1]. This protein (Bilbe et al, 1992), which is associated with microtubules, is expressed specifically in Reed-Sternberg cells (Pierre et al, 1994; Delabie et al, 1992). It is expressed also in peripheral blood monocytes (Bilbe et al, 1992; Delabie et al, 1992). Overexpression of Restin is thought to contribute to progression of Hodgkin's disease (Bilbe et al, 1992).
