RRV orf74

Rhesus rhadinovirus RRV orf74 encodes a G-protein-coupled receptor with similarity to cellular chemokine receptors. RRV orf74 shares 40.8 % amino acid sequence identity with KSHV orf74 (See vGPCR) and 24.1 % amino acid sequence identity with rhesus macaque CXCR2.

RRV orf74 causes transformation of NIH 3T3 cells. The transformed cells grow in soft agarose and induce tumor formation in nude mice. Expression of RRV orf74 in NIH 3T3 cells causes an increased secretion of VEGF.
