[ROQ domains]
This protein domain is found in RNA binding proteins such as Roquin and Roquin-1. It is involved in binding to constitutive decay elements found in many different mRNAs and required for mRNA decay mediated by these proteins (Schlundt et al, 2014). The ROQ domain also binds double-stranded RNA (Tan et al, 2014). The ROQ domain is responsible also for the localization of Roquin and Roquin-2 to cytosolic stress granules (Athanasopoulos V et al, 2010).
