[Roof plate-specific spondin-2] abbr. Rspo2. R-spondin-2 has been identified independently as Cristin-2 [cysteine-rich single thrombospondin domain-containing protein-2] (Nam et al, 2006). The human gene has been identified as a modulator of Wnt proteins by Kazanskaya et al (2004). R-spondin-2 (243 amino acids) is a secreted protein, a member of the family of R-spondins, and is expressed in organs of endodermal origin, including colon, rectum, small intestine, and lung, with decreased expression in corresponding tumors. The protein contains a putative nuclear localization signal (Kim et al, 2006).
