Polydim-I

Polydim-I, AVAGEKLWLLPHLLKMLLTPTP, is a peptide isolated from the venom of the neotropical wask Polybia dimorpha,

It is active against Myvcobacterium abscessus subsp. massiliense and disrupts the bacteria cell envelope. The peptide is not cytotoxic mammalian cells. Polydim-I treatment of macrophages, the main targets of mycobacteria, infected with different M. abscessus subsp. massiliense strains reduces 40 to 50 % of the bacterial load. Polydim-I treatment of highly susceptible mice intravenously infected with M. abscessus subsp. massiliense induces 0.8 to 1 log reduction of the bacterial load in the lungs, spleen, and liver (das Neves et al, 2016).
