[prolactin-related protein-I] this glycosylated bovine protein is produced by trophoblast binucleate cells in the ruminant placenta and expressed at the feto–maternal interface from the implantation period (Yamada et al, 2002). Its function is not known. Bovine PRP1 is anchored to the extracellular matrix through interactions with collagen-4 in basement membranes in villi or the endometrium (Takahashi et al, 2008). The glycosylation of PRPI in bovine binucleate trophoblast giant cells has been shown to change before parturition (Klisch et al, 2006).
