[PR domain containing 14; PR domain zinc finger protein 14] PRDM14 is a transcription factor that contains a PR domain. A databank synonym is PFM11.
PRDM14 is expressed in preimplantation embryos, primordial germ cells, and embryonic stem cells. PRDM14 is essential for early germ cell specification and is required for both the re-acquisition of potential pluripotency and genome-wide epigenetic reprogramming (Yamaji et al, 2008; Kurimoto et al, 2008; Ohinata et al, 2009; for an overview see also: Nakaki and Saitou, 2014).
