[proline- and glutamine-rich protein; PQ-rich protein] This rat gene is the homolog of the murine TDAG51 gene. The rat protein causes cell death by apoptosis in neuronal cell lines, following differentiation with several factors such as aFGF, constitutively activated Raf1, or phorbol esters (Gomes et al, 1999). Levels of FAS antigen transcripts are not increased in the neuronal cells, indicating species differences or a mechanism of action different from that in T-cells.
