OP-2
[osteogenic protein-2] OP-2 was discovered in a mouse embryo and human hippocampus cDNA library. OP-2 is known also as BMP8.
The TGF-beta domain of OP-2 shows 74 % identity to OP-1, 75 % to Vgr-1 (see: Vg-1), and 76 % to BMP5 (see: BMP, bone morphogenetic proteins). Relatively high levels of OP-2 mRNA are expressed in mouse embryos.
