[OCT4 protein transduction domain] This peptide, DVVRVWFCNRRQKGKR, is derived from the third helix of the homeodomain of human OCT4, a transcription factor that plays a major role for the preservation of the pluripotent state in embryonic stem cells and is being employed for eprogramming of somatic cells to induced pluripotent stem cells. OCT4-PTD acts as a cell penetrating peptide (for comparison see also: Penetratin).
