abbr. NRP. This cell type, which is found in chicken, rat, mouse, and humans (Kalyani and Rao, 1998; Lee et al, 2000), has been identified by Mayer-Proschel et al (1997). The cells are morphologically distinct from multipotent neuroepithelial cells, from which they arise, and from spinal glial progenitors (see also: neural stem cells).
