This term has multiple meanings:
(-1-) negative regulatory protein
This biochemically uncharacterized factor of 79 kDa has been found in bone marrow conditioned medium from C57BL/6 (B6) mice (Del Rizzo et al, 1988). It rapidly, specifically, and reversibly inhibits DNA synthesis of BFU-E cells in vitro.
The action of TGF-beta on DNA synthesis of BFU-E has been found to be identical with that of NRP in time scale, reversibility, and opposition by IL3, but NRP is not identical with TGF-beta (Axelrad et al, 1990; Del Rizzo et al, 1990).
