Monocyte-derived scattering factor
This biochemically uncharacterized factor of 40-60 kDa is produced by stimulated and non-stimulated human monocytes and the monocytic cell line, U937. It increases the cell motility (see also: Motogenic cytokines) of the two human colon-cancer cell lines, HT115 and HT29. Canine epithelial cells, MDCK, are not affected (Jiang et al, 1993).
The effect on HT115 cells is not seen with IL1, IL2, IL4, IL6, IL8, IL10, TNF-alpha, TGF-beta,
