[multilineage progenitor assay; M stands for myeloid cells; T stands for T-cells, B stands for B-cells] This assay has been described originally by Kawamoto et al (1997) as MLP assay. The culture system involves fetal thymic organ culture because development of T-cells is highly dependent on thymic architecture. In this system hematopoietic progenitor cells are co-cultured with deoxyguanosine-treated fetal thymus lobe in the presence of IL7, IL3 and SCF.
