[Mouse Developmental Kinase-1] MDK-1 is a receptor tyrosine kinase of the eck eph subfamily expressed in a variety of tissues during early mouse embryogenesis. MDK1-T1 and MDK-1-T2 are truncated splice variants of MDK-1 that lack a kinase domain. In addition there are at least three other isoforms (Ciossek et al, 1995; Mori et al, 1995). The protein is the same as EphA7 (see: ephrins).
Functional differences between full-length and truncated forms of MDK-1 receptor tyrosine kinase are suggested by developmental regulation of the levels of expression of each mRNA type (Mori et al, 1995).
Ligands for MDK-1 have been identified as B61 (identical with LERK1) and Elf-1 (Ciossek and Ullrich, 1997).
