The peptide is derived from the N-terminus of the parent protein, which is MT-CO1 [mitochondrially encoded cytochrome c oxidase I], known also as Cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1, 1 of 3 subunits of respiratory Complex IV, the final enzyme of the electron transport chain of mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation.
