[Monocyte chemotactic protein-4] called also monocyte chemoattractant protein-4. The cDNA for MCP-4 was identified in a library constructed from human fetal RNA. The mature protein consists of 75 amino acids. There are two variants of 77 and 82 residues in length. The variants have been termed LA-MCP-4 and FNPQGLA-MCP-4. MCP-4 has been renamed CCL13. See also: SCY family of cytokines for a systematic nomenclature used previously. The factor is known also as NCC1 and Ck-beta-10.
MCP-4 shares 56-61 % sequence identity with the three known monocyte chemotactic proteins
