[Bovine monocyte chemotactic protein] called also monocyte chemoattractant protein. This factor is produced by Madin Darby bovine kidney (see also: MDBK) cells stimulated with phorbol esters. The 14 kDa protein contains four conserved cysteines and thus belongs to the CC-Chemokines.
Bovine MCP-1B is most related to bovine MCP-1 and MCP-2, displaying 84 % and 53 % identical amino acids, respectively. Bovine MCP-1B stimulates beta-glucuronidase release from monocytes. It is not chemotactic for neutrophils and eosinophils.
