MBD4

[methyl-CpG binding domain protein 4] MBD4 is known also as MED1 (Methyl-CpG-binding endonuclease) (Bellacosa et al, 1999). MBD4 specifically binds methylated DNA in vitro and colocalizes with methylated sequences in vivo (Hendrich and Bird, 1998). The genomic structure of mouse and human MBD4 has been reported by Hendrich et al (1999).
