[Misgurnus anguillicaudatus antimicrobial polypeptide] This cysteine-rich polypeptide of 94 residues containing 10 different amino acids has been identified in the loach (mudfish) Misgurnus anguillicaudatus. The protein shows no sequence similarity with other proteins and has been shown to be active against Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, and Staphylococcus aureus (Dong et al, 2002).
