M-Sema F is a member of the semaphorin gene family. Individual members of this family contribute to axon guidance by their repellent actions. The murine gene has been identified in mouse brain by Inagaki et al (1995). The gene is expressed widely in the nervous tissues during development.
This protein has been renamed SEMA4C (Semaphorin 4C) (Semaphorin Nomenclature Committee, 1999). See: Semaphorins for overview entry.
