Leukemia-derived transforming growth factor
This biochemically uncharacterized factor has been isolated from the serum-free medium of SMS-SB-cells, a human pre-B acute lymphoblastic leukemia cell line.
The factor is biochemically distinct from known mitogens for fibroblasts such as EGF, TGF-alpha, TGF-beta, and the endothelial cell growth factor/fibroblast growth factor family of mitogens (see: ECGF, FGF). The factor is not mitogenic for normal or leukemic lymphocytes or progenitors of granulocytes and macrophages
