abbr. LLECs. This cell type has been described and named by Shibata-Germanos et al (2020). The cells are found in the mouse and human leptomeninges and are structurally and functionally similar to a cell type found in zebrafish (see: Brain Lymphatic Endothelial Cells). The cells express multiple lymphatic markers (VEGFR3, MRC1 [mannose receptor C type-1], and LYVE-1), contain very large, spherical inclusions, and internalize macromolecules from the cerebrospinal fluid, including Amyloid-beta.
