Lebein |
Lebein-1-Like |
proapoptotic caspase adaptor protein |
||
also called Lebein, has been isolated from Macrovipera lebetina venom (Eble et al, 2003) (for a related protein see: Dabmaurin-1).
Lebein-1 is a soluble heterodimeric disintegrin that blocks ligand binding of integrins containing the integrin-beta-1 subunit, which also recognises laminin. In cell attachment assays, lebein-1 inhibits myoblast attachment not only to laminin, but also to fibronectin. The inhibitory activity both in vitro and in vivo, suggests that lebein-1 may influencing laminin-induced, integrin-mediated cell functions such as cell anchorage, migration, and mechanical force transduction on laminin-rich basement membranes.
