[Landsteiner-Wiener blood group antigens]
abbr. LW blood group antigen; also: LW protein, LW glycoprotein. In the nomenclature of CD antigens this protein has been given the designation CD242. See also: blood group antigens.
This blood group system is defined by antibodies that recognize two antithetical antigens termed LWa antigen (called LW3 antigen by Sistonen and Tippett, 1982) and LWb antigen, which correspond to two alleles of the LW locus (Hermand et al, 1995).
