LUVA cells
This mast cell line was derived from purified peripheral blood CD34(+) cells of a donor with aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease. The cells are granulated and express chymase, tryptase, histidine decarboxylase, carboxypeptidase A3, and the type 1 receptor for cysteinyl leukotrienes, and cathepsin G. LUVA cells express normal SCF receptors (kit) and do not require the presence of growth factors for survival and proliferation (see also: Factor-dependent cell lines). Initially, the cells expressed IgE receptors and beta-hexosaminidase, leukotrienes and cytokines. Fcepsilon RI cross-linkage induces the release of beta-hexosaminidase, prostaglandin D2
