[lymphocyte-specific interferon response factor] This signaling molecule of 51 kDa is a member of the IRF (interferon regulatory factor) gene family cloned from mouse spleen (Grossman et al, 1996). LSIRF shares a high degree of amino acid sequence homology in the DNA-binding domain with other IRF family members. The human homolog of LSIRF is ICSAT. LSIRF has been renamed IRF4 [interferon regulatory factor-4], which is also the approved gene symbol. In the mouse, the protein has been identified independently as Pip [PU.1 interaction partner].
