LSF-1

[liver suppressor factor-1] This factor of 40 kDa and a unique N-terminal sequence was observed at high concentrations in the serum during studies of liver induced immunosuppression employing the use of liver grafts between certain combinations of donor and recipient rat strains (Lord et al, 1995; Edwards-Smith et al, 1996).

Mixed lymphocyte assays reveal that the protein is immunosuppressive in a donor-specific manner. Vari F et al (2002) have reported that LSF-1 may modulate the indirect allorecognition pathway to delay allograft rejection.

Some other proteins of 180 kDa, 87 kDa, and 10 kDa with unique N-terminal sequences were also purified from serum. Some of them are immunosuppressive in mixed lymphocyte reactions (Goto et al, 1996).
