[leukocyte adhesion molecule 1] The gene (designated LYAM1) for this cell surface antigen has been cloned by Ord et al (1990). LAM-1 Tedder et al (1990) have shown that LAM-1 is identical with the TQ-1 and Leu8 differentiation antigens and shows strong homology with the murine lymphocyte homing receptor (Bowen et al, 1989). Human LAM-1 is considered the homolog of the mouse lymphocyte homing receptor identified by the MEL-14 antibody (Kishimoto et al, 1990). In the nomenclature of CD antigens the protein has been given the designation CD62L.
