[Knops blood group antigens]
allelic variants Kn(a), Kn(b). Also: Knops-Helgeson antigen. Moulds et al (1991, 1992, 2001) and Tamasauskas et al (2001) have reported that the Knops blood group antigen resides on the C3b/C4b receptor. Erythrocytes of the so-called Helgeson phenotype (Helgeson et al, 1970) represent the null phenotype of the Knops system by conventional serological methods.
In the nomenclature of CD antigens the protein has been given the designation CD35. See also: blood group antigens.
